After clocking up an impressive run of 28 games unbeaten and scoring a whopping 206 goals last season, it was only fair that Stourbridge Glassboys FC were treated to something special.
As a reward for their successful season, the boys were picked up from the Chestnut Tree pub, in Castlecroft Road, Wolverhampton, in a brand-new silver Hummer Limousine.
The team then travelled in the luxurious car to their league presentation evening at Brierley Hill Civic Hall. The side, which is made up of under-eights, came top of the Stourbridge District Youth Football League Division One last season – the second time in three years.
Last season, the boys scored 206 goals, including 35 hat-tricks, and only conceded 20. They were 15 points clear of runners-up Warstones Wanderers East.
Manager Nick Birch said: “I am very proud to have coached such a talented group of boys. Each and every one of them has made a very valuable contribution to the team’s success over the last few years and to go for so many games unbeaten for children of their age is a superb achievement.
“I can’t praise the team’s commitment and efforts enough.
“The boys are all very special and extremely talented and have made me, the coaches and their parents unbelievably proud..
